Summary

One day, a young bear stumbles upon something he has never seen before in the forest。 As time passes, he teaches himself how to play the strange instrument, and eventually the beautiful sounds are heard by a father and son who are picnicking in the woods。 The bear goes with them on an incredible journey to New York, where his piano playing makes him a huge star。 He has fame, fortune and all the music in the world, but he misses the friends and family he has left behind。 A moving tale of exploration and belonging from an exciting debut author-illustrator。

3 1/2 stars。 Cute story of a bear who becomes famous and the friends back home who are genuinely happy for him。

You might think it is impossible for a story about a bear playing a piano to be boring。。。。I assure you, it is possible。The story goes exactly where you think it will。 I found it to be completely humorless。 The ending note is sweet, but not enough to save this very basic, seen it all before, book。 The illustrations are well done, but even they seemed overly familiar。

The Bear and The Piano by David Litchfield The Bear, The Piano, The Dog and The Fiddle by David Litchfield I love picture books that are aimed at slightly older children and I'm always looking for picture books that I know my 6 year old (nearly 7!) daughter will enjoy。This is a perfect choice。Such lovely stories about the importance of friendship。 The Bear finds a piano in the woods and teaches himself to play it。 From here he follows his dream to travel, performing to the world。 He never forget The Bear and The Piano by David Litchfield The Bear, The Piano, The Dog and The Fiddle by David Litchfield I love picture books that are aimed at slightly older children and I'm always looking for picture books that I know my 6 year old (nearly 7!) daughter will enjoy。This is a perfect choice。Such lovely stories about the importance of friendship。 The Bear finds a piano in the woods and teaches himself to play it。 From here he follows his dream to travel, performing to the world。 He never forgets his friends in the forest though returns to play to them。 They have been watching his climb to fame and carefully looking after his piano。 The illustrations in this book are stunning and really bring the whole story to life。The second book has a similar theme with a musicians dog discovering his talent for playing the violin。 He joins the Bear on his musical journey and performances but again doesn't forget previois life or his owner that loves him。I love these books and want to let the last one in the series now! 。。。more

A young bear cub finds a piano in the woods。 He plays it daily until every he has the skills to perform nightly concerts。 Soon a pair of children see his skill and convince him to come to big city。 His skill and fame grow, but he still longs for his piano in the woods surrounded by friends。 Beautiful story about fame and fans。

The illustrations in this book are lovely and have lots of details that help the children to understand the emotions of the characters。 I liked that at the heart of the story is a bear who bravely pursues his dream but doesn't forget his friends and family in his journey to fame。 I particularly liked the ending when we see how proud the other bears are of their friend。 The book teaches children the important lesson of understanding that people can be proud of you and support you even when you ca The illustrations in this book are lovely and have lots of details that help the children to understand the emotions of the characters。 I liked that at the heart of the story is a bear who bravely pursues his dream but doesn't forget his friends and family in his journey to fame。 I particularly liked the ending when we see how proud the other bears are of their friend。 The book teaches children the important lesson of understanding that people can be proud of you and support you even when you can't see them/ they are far away。 。。。more

This book was read after the second for me。 Although I like it, the second with a dog made a connection closer to what I might use with children。 This is a wonderful dynamic book, yet I am not sure which students will enjoy as much as the adults who can understand the feelings on a level of experience。 It will be interesting what story is told in the third book。
